Emails aren’t always secure, and they may be intercepted or changed after they’ve been sent. ThePromise doesn’t accept liability if this happens. The contents of emails reflect their author’s views and not necessarily ThePromise’s. When you contact ThePromise regarding our activities, register as a supporter, send or receive information or make a donation to us, you provide us with personal information, which may include your name, address and contact details.

What information do we collect?

Financial information

In order to process financial transactions, we may ask you for your bank or credit card details. If you make a donation online, your card information is collected by our partner organisations, Just Giving or CAF, but is not held by us.

Personal information

When you supply information such as your name or email address to us, we are legally obliged by the Data Protection Act 1998 to ensure that we only use this information for the purpose for which it was requested, and to ensure that it is kept securely.

What does providing your personal information mean?

When you provide us with personal data, such as your name or email address, you consent to the collection and use of this information for a specified purpose.

Recruitment and Volunteers

When recruiting for a post based in Russia, ThePromise will sometimes need to transfer your personal information to Russia. They do not necessarily provide the same level of data protection as the European Union. By submitting your personal data, you are agreeing to this transfer, storing or processing. If we transfer your information outside of the EU in this way, we will take steps with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected as outlined in this privacy policy.

Will we disclose the information we have collected to outside parties?

ThePromise is the sole owner of the information collected on this Website. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to third parties, unless we have your explicit permission to do so, or we are required to do so by law, for example, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.

When you are using our secure online donation pages, your donation is processed by Just Giving or CAF, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions. If you have any questions regarding secure transactions, email the relevant web managers.

Do we use cookies?

Yes. Cookies are pieces of information that are sent to your computer by ThePromise if you log onto our website with a user name. They are stored on your computer’s hard drive, allowing us to recognise you as a user when you next visit. If you just visit the site without logging in, no cookies are stored.

If you do not want cookies to be stored on your PC it is possible to disable this function without affecting your navigation around the site.

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information ThePromise holds about you. We may charge £10 for information requests to cover our costs in providing you with the details. Please contact the Data Protection Officer

You can unsubscribe from our emails by following the instructions at the bottom of any email you receive from us. To unsubscribe from receiving all email communications from ThePromise please email the Data Protection Officer.

Updating your information

The accuracy of your information is important to us. If any of your personal information changes or you find that our records are inaccurate or out of date, please email post@thepromise.org.uk or telephone 020 8123 3290 (or 00 44 20 8123 3290 if you are calling from outside the UK).
