ThePromise Volunteer Project aims to recruit and support volunteers willing to share their specialist knowledge and skills with the staff, children and families in our projects in Russia. We are lucky enough to have already supported a number of professionals including Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, a Dietitian and a specialist in Appropriate Paper Technology (APT). All have provided the children with much needed treatment and equipment and the staff and parents with advice and training so they can continue the work initiated by the volunteers.
There are a number of volunteering opportunities with ThePromise. We are very keen to continue to develop the Russian Portage Workers knowledge of working with disabled children by supporting people with skills and experience in various aspects of disability, including in particular, Speech & Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Art and Music Therapists and Special Needs Teachers. We would also welcome trained Portage workers and accredited Portage Trainers.
ThePromise will aim to provide you with the information and support you need to have a successful and fulfilling volunteer experience. Ideally we encourage volunteers to raise the funds to cover the cost of their trip. However, we can suggest fundraising ideas as well as facilitate your visa, insurance and flights and provide accommodation and transport once in Russia. ThePromise will provide interpreters but applications from Russian speakers are particularly welcomed.
If you have a relevant skill and are interested in finding out more about how you might be able to make a difference in Russia please contact Jo Pritchard
