ryazan portage service
The Ryazan Community Portage Service has been running since 2006. With support from the Ryazan State University the team started with 10 students volunteering as Portage workers, supervised by a Senior Portage worker, visiting a family each throughout the city.
Today the team is made up of 20 volunteer Portage workers who visit at least 22 families!
The team also organise social get to togethers for the parents and children, holiday celebrations, support parents in getting additional services for their children, including equipment, specialist input from professionals and assisting with integrating some of the children into kindergarten and school settings.
The fantastic results of the Ryazan Community Portage Service has meant that it is now a Model of Best Practice for Community Portage services in Russia, leading to the successful spread of Portage to other areas within Russia.
The Ryazan Community Portage Service is now independently managed and financed by the Russian team and local support. ThePromise continue to offer professional support and training as able when requested by the team.
